Leitrim, located in the west of Ireland, is hilly to the northwest and relatively flat in the southeast, and is divided by Lough Allen.
It has a short length of Atlantic coastline and is bordered by counties Sligo, Donegal, Fermanagh, Cavan, Longford, and Roscommon.
